How to change your voice in a recording

Chipmunk, robot, monster or a deep movie-trailer voice, from any voice memo, voice note or video, in about a minute.

Updated · 1 min read

Short answer: Open your voice memo, voice note or video in the free Voice Changer, pick Chipmunk, Deep voice, Monster, Robot, Alien, Telephone or Echo, preview it and download the result. No app or upload needed.

Step 1: Record or find the clip

  1. iPhone: record in Voice Memos, then tap the memo → ⋯ → Save to Files.
  2. Android: record with the Recorder app; recordings are in Files → Recordings.
  3. A video works too: pick it straight from your gallery. A WhatsApp voice note? Save it first (see WhatsApp voice to MP3).

Step 2: Pick a voice

  1. Open the Voice Changer and choose your file. Chipmunk is already on.
  2. Tap another voice under Effects: Deep voice, Monster, Robot, Alien, Telephone or Echo.
  3. Press Preview with effects to hear it before saving.

Step 3: Save and share it

Press Change voice, then Download, and send it with Send to a friend. Want it as a ringtone? Open the file in the Ringtone Maker (see your voice as a ringtone).

Make it sound better

  1. Higher or lower: move the Pitch slider. +8 is a classic chipmunk, -5 a deep voice, -9 a monster.
  2. Noisy recording: turn on AI noise removal as well, so the effect sounds clean.
  3. Too quiet: turn on Auto loudness.

Use it kindly

Voice effects are for fun, privacy and creativity. Don't use them to impersonate a real person or to trick someone.
