How to make a song or recording louder
Too quiet even at full volume? Here's how to make the file itself louder, without the crackling you get from just turning it up.
Step by step
- Open the Volume Booster and choose your file (audio or video).
- For recordings and voice notes, leave Auto loudness on. It brings the whole file to an even, loud level.
- For more, raise Volume. A limiter keeps the loudest parts from distorting.
- Press Preview with effects, then Convert and Download.
Which setting to use
- Voice notes, lectures, interviews: Auto loudness. Quiet and loud parts end up closer together, so you hear everything.
- Songs: a little extra Volume, for example 120 to 150%. Songs are already mastered loud, so big boosts squash them.
- Phone videos: Auto loudness, then save the sound with Video to MP3 if you only need the audio.

Questions and answers
How do I make an MP3 louder?
Open it in the Volume Booster, raise Volume or turn on Auto loudness, then convert and download it.
Will it distort?
A limiter catches the loudest peaks, so moderate boosts stay clean. Very large boosts on loud songs can still sound squashed.
