How to make slowed + reverb songs

The dreamy, slowed-down sound from TikTok and YouTube takes about a minute to make yourself, for free, right in your browser.

Step by step

  1. Open the Slowed + Reverb maker and choose a song from your phone or computer.
  2. The classic settings are already on: speed 0.85× with reverb. Press Preview with effects to listen.
  3. Adjust it to taste (see the settings below), then press Convert and Download your MP3.

Settings that sound right

  1. Speed 0.80 to 0.90×. Slower than 0.80 starts to sound muddy, faster than 0.90 is barely noticeable.
  2. Pitch 1 to 3 semitones lower. This gives the deep, sleepy voice. Leave it at 0 if the singer sounds too dark.
  3. Reverb 35 to 55%. Enough to sound like a big room, not so much that the words get lost.
  4. A little extra bass (+3 to +6 dB) makes it feel fuller on headphones.

Other versions to try

  1. Sped up or nightcore: speed 1.15 to 1.30× with the pitch raised. Use the nightcore maker.
  2. 8D: the sound circles around your head on headphones. Use the 8D audio converter.
  3. Slowed ringtone: make your slowed version, then open it in the Ringtone Maker.

Posting it

TikTok, Instagram and YouTube can mute or block songs you don't have the rights to, even slowed down. For your own listening it's fine; for posting, use music you made or are allowed to use, or add the original song from the app's own music library.
