How to get the audio from a video

Turn a video from your gallery or computer into an MP3: a song from a concert clip, a speech, a voice message or a sound you love.

Works with MP4, MOV, WebM and MKV videos.

Open Video to MP3

Step by step

  1. Open Video to MP3. On a phone, tap Choose a file → Photo Library (iPhone) or Gallery (Android). On a computer, drop the video on the page.
  2. Want only part of it? Drag on the waveform to select it. Otherwise the whole sound is used.
  3. Choose MP3 and a quality: 320 kbps for music, 128 kbps for speech.
  4. Press Convert, then Download.

Where the file goes

iPhone: Files → Downloads. Android: Files → Downloads. Computer: your Downloads folder. The downloads guide has more detail.

Tips

  1. Screen recordings and iPhone videos (.mov) work directly, there's also a dedicated MOV to MP3 page.
  2. Too quiet? Phone videos often are. Turn on Auto loudness in Effects before converting.
  3. Want it as a ringtone? See make a ringtone from a video.

Only use videos you're allowed to

Extract audio from videos you made or have permission to use. Downloading other people's music from streaming sites isn't allowed by their terms.

Questions and answers

How do I extract audio from a video on iPhone?

Open Video to MP3 in Safari, choose the video from your Photo Library, then convert and download the MP3. No app needed.

Is there a size limit?

File limits depend on your device and browser. Computers handle much bigger files than phones, and MeloCut does not accept files over 1 GB. For long videos, use a computer or trim the video first.

Is the video uploaded?

No. The sound is extracted on your own device, which is also why it is fast.
