How to cut a song on iPhone
iPhones have no built-in way to trim a song. Here's how to do it in Safari in about a minute, with no app to install.
Ready to cut? The audio cutter opens right in Safari.
Open Audio CutterStep by step
- Open the Audio Cutter in Safari and tap Choose a file. Pick the song from Files, or a video from Photo Library.
- Drag the two handles on the waveform to the part you want. Press Play to check where it starts and ends.
- Want to cut a part out instead, like a long intro? Switch to Remove, and the selection is taken out of the song.
- Leave Fade in and Fade out on so it doesn't start or stop abruptly.
- Choose MP3 (plays everywhere) or M4A, press the button, then Download. The file is saved in Files → Downloads.
Exact times
For a precise cut, type the times in the Start and End boxes, for example 1:05.5. That's easier than dragging with a finger on a small screen.
What to do with the file
- Ringtone: use the Ringtone Maker instead, then follow set any song as your iPhone ringtone.
- Send it: in Files, long-press the file → Share → WhatsApp, Messages or AirDrop.
- Edit it more: open it again in another tool, for example the volume booster.
